Activities on offer in the Kariba area are diverse, including game drives in open vehicles, walks, boat cruises, canoeing, bird watching and fishing under the leadership of resident game guides.

Kipling's, a luxury safari lodge situated at the mouth of the Ume River, accommodates a maximum of twenty guests in thatched chalets, with 8 metre high steep pitched roofs for cooling. Activities take place in the Matusadona National Park, one of the few refuges of the endangered black rhino.

The luxurious Katete Lodge is situated overlooking the shores of Lake Kariba. "Out of Africa" best describes the theme at Katete, with the brick and thatch buildings being decorated with period furniture, natural fabrics, local timber and stone floors. For the more adventurous, something a little different...Matusadona Water Lodge offers floating en suite chalets with a central mother craft. Guests are able to enjoy boating, canoeing, fishing or walking safaris. Tracking the rare black rhino, as well as elephant, buffalo and lion on foot under the leadership of an expert guide offers one of Africa's most exhilarating experiences.

For those wanting privacy and relaxation, houseboats are can be chartered, complete with captain and crew who will take care of your every need. There is a huge variety of boats available depending on your needs, ranging from accommodating two to four guests upwards on monohulls or catamarans. Tender boats are towed for fishing or for exploring the shoreline for game viewing.
